The first fire of the almost official 2010 fire season occurred on April 12. A small meadow caught fire during a controlled burn, when the wind picked up. In addition to immediate action by Game and Fish personnel, good water in the Sybille Creek (which flows through the Game and Fish Research Center) contained the fire, and prevented it from spreading. Game and Fish staff who are also volunteer fire zone members, got the fire out and kept a close eye on it overnight.
